1.30&31

I finished my first month of Daily Sketchbook paintings. Some days felt great and others I was definitely "off". But I am determined to do it every day regardless of how I feel. Sometimes just choosing what I want to paint seems like a huge task, others I just sit down and go.  For example this happened just yesterday and today. Yesterday I was getting a migraine, I just couldn't focus, so I put down the stripes and then just decided to draw with a pen over it.. It looks dark and sad to me... Today is better and I just painted. I guess I could just put a big dot down on a bad day..

Love your daily paintings - what an accomplishment! I have begun posting daily inspiration on my blog and I am having trouble keeping up with that! Just curious, do you paint in gouache or watercolor? Looking forward to your next painting! :) Julie

Hi Julie, I've been looking at your daily inspiration, I love all the detailed metalwork, they are beautiful patterns! I use gouache mostly but add acrylic, watercolor, pencil or whatever I have on hand sometimes.. I'm just playing around!

You should! I'm getting ideas for other work as I do them. I put a timer on for 30 min,, so I really keep to it. It works!

What a great idea to be self- disciplined to work in your sketchbook. All of your paintings are so beautiful even the ones you considered to be bad day paintings. You have completely inspired me. I think the time limit is a good idea too! Thanks for some inspiration!

Thanks Cheryl! It is a great exercise and putting it up here holds me accountable. I wrote below too that I use a timer so It doesn't become a long process.. If I didn't it could easily go over 30 minutes.

I'm going to try it. I'm a little cut short for time right now. We are in the middle of training a young puppy. But I'm also really missing my creative time. I surely can eek out 30min. I'm really impressed with what you can get done in 30 minutes. Your work is so beautiful!

It's really easy to waste 30 minutes, I do it all the time, so I figure I could get this in.. You can draw your puppy every day. That could be really fun!
